Have you ever wondered what it would be like if your college classmates reversed their roles and taught the class instead? During the past two weeks, I have attended workshops facilitated by my fellow classmates and one instance of facilitating one with my group so I will be reflecting on my experience in this post.
Icebreakers
At the beginning of every workshop, we had an icebreaker to ease us in. I found all of these to be really fun which surprised me because I was initially dreading having to do these. They were all great but for the purpose of the post I will highlight one that stood out to me but it was a hard choice!
Jeopardy
This ice breaker was really fun and very interactive making you feel like you're in the real show! I was simply impressed on how well it was put together as it flowed really well. My group only scored a total of 100 points as we played it risky and merely getting an answer wrong about equators. I would really recommend this Ice breaker for future workshops!
Main Content with questions and opinions
Overall I found the main content of the slides from the workshops to be very enriching to the content I have learned in class, the approach from another angle and bringing in new content made it a very good experience and the addition of constant interaction with us through questions and discussions was really good. I tried my best to participate in all the questions asked but sometimes someone bet me to it! It was very satisfying to get right answers however.
Activities
The activities throughout the workshops were incredibly fun with my favourite being a group quiz on Menti.com, the addition of the time pressure and competitiveness was very rewarding and definitely allowed me to learn more about green technology.
My Experience
I felt very prepared going into our workshop but at the same time it was nerve-wracking! My team has done very well with the bingo and the wheel. I also enjoyed my part but before I could not unveil my full potential unfortunately I did not get the opportunity to finish all my sections of the PowerPoint due to time constraint.
Dear audience please be mindful of time when facilitating workshops!
